If you see the “Shared spreadsheet detected” message when opening the Artemis Sheets add-on sidebar, the issue is usually caused by opening a spreadsheet owned by someone else.

Why this happens

When you open a shared spreadsheet, the ART formulas run under the spreadsheet owner account.

Example

Let’s say:
  • Account A = owner of the spreadsheet shared with account B
  • Account B = opens the spreadsheet
If account A is not logged in through the sidebar, account B will see this message returned by the ART formulas:
Please sign in via the sidebar to use =ART functions.
Even if account B logs into the sidebar, the ART functions still run under account A, so the same message will appear.

What still works?

You can continue using ART formulas as well as the Chat, Formula Builder, and Templates sidebar features normally, but they will run under the spreadsheet owner account in the background. However, the sidebar Settings feature will not work.

Quick fixes

You can make a copy of the sheet under your own account. Click the File menu, then Make a copy.
